Identity design and hand painted signage for Newcastle West’s most prominent bar and restaurant, The Edwards. We were commissioned to design a classic logo that represented the interior and iconic history of the once large industrial dry cleaners.
After viewing the interior of the newly designed restaurant and bar, still under construction, we discussed the clients vision for the space. Knowing their direction and personality we hand sketched an original logo design which evokes an old Parisian restaurant identity style which was to be hand painted on glass using traditional Signwriting applications. The new identity now appears near both entrances of the restaurant to aid in giving a comforting and classic feeling when you arrive from any entrance.
The main restaurant area is a modern yet laid back place to relax, the creative space has an industrial or garage like feel to it, the front alfresco dining area evokes a fresh and laid back feel. The way finding signage was designed in different forms to represent these varied areas of The Edwards.
Along with the logo, the way finding signage, opening hours and licensee lettering on the glass doors were also hand painted.
