Five Days of Decay was an artist in residency for Creative Director of Pocket Design, Brett Piva to create 5 new works in 5 days.
Each work demonstrated a personal study of forgotten eras of lettering that overlaid different styles by date, location or character. The letter strokes in each work follow a similar path that a traditional Signwriter from that time may have followed to showcase not just an understanding but a respect of the craft and practice of hand lettering.
The characters overlaid within the piece relate to the works chosen era of lettering and depict the quickly fading history of the Australian visual landscape and the culture that once surrounded it.
Each work was 900mm x 900mm acrylic on board. If you’re interested in a similar commissioned piece as an individual artwork or mural, please contact us.
